The conversation will be in German.

Pictures that make you think. A contribution of the artist Gaby Kutz and the theologian Daniel Rossa to the conversation between art and science on the occasion of the exhibition “Redraw Tragedy”.

The late modern society is differentiated in itself and has distributed different tasks on different shoulders: “Cultural creators make statements about nature, man and society with their work”, information and publicity are the task of the media, theory formation is a matter of scientists.

Thank God there are such professions also in the catastrophe: rescue workers, pastors and many more. Here it becomes clear that this professionalization is vital for a society. But it is also necessary that these areas are not completely closed off from each other. A society maintains its vitality at the interfaces and overlaps of these sub-areas and in the ability of the individual members of society to communicate across such sub-systems. This requires joint border crossings and explorations – especially where it is a matter of classifying what overtaxes people and exceeds the logic of the respective subsystem.

The extensive supporting program takes place in collaboration with the Artists’ Forum team and Museum Studies at the University of Bonn, supplemented by a digital accompanying program on the website (https://www.redraw-tragedy.de/) and in social media.

The exhibition is sponsored by the Stiftung Kunst der Sparkasse Bonn, the Stiftung Kunstfonds and the City of Bonn.

Exhibition REDRAW TRAGEDY: Jan. 16 – Feb. 23, 2022.

Opening hours of the exhibition: Tue- Fri 3-6pm, Sat 2-5pm, Sun 11am-5pm.
